bonjour tristesse

thesis-ing today, but dreaming of the french riviera (probably because i watched "bonjour tristesse" on tcm yesterday). wearing my chambray shirt in tribute. ah, la vie!

neve

some very impressive latte art from my favorite café in montréal. seriously, the coffee at café neve is rivaled only by the stuff they serve at monmouth coffee in london.

the year of living glamorously

making an effort to inject a bit more glamour into my everyday life. it began simply enough: more breakfasts in sweet cafés (like café neve, which has the best coffee in montreal) with good reads (then it was "the gentlewoman," with its profile of my favorite lady, phoebe philo; now its "the longest journey," as i've been on an e. m. forster kick lately). i predict living glamorously will also include more soirées, more dressing up (not hard), and more fun.

abricot

st ambroise apricot ale is one of the best things about montreal (though it doesn't even begin to compare to abita strawberry ale). the first days of spring call for cold beer, good food (caprese sandwiches, shrimp tikka masala), and a serious avoidance of anything school-related.

cafe brasil

so i was seriously craving some red velvet hash (potatoes cooked in beet puree with poached eggs) all weekend. too bad i'm thousands of miles away from both cafe brasil and my favorite brunch partner. boo.

(sorry for the sad photo, i was way too distracted by delicious breakfast foods to worry about composition. but you get the idea.)
